Alzheimer's Society is Bupa's nominated charity for the 2009 Bupa Great Run series. Alzheimer's Society are hoping over 7,000 runners will join their team to raise over £1million to help the Society continue to support people with dementia today and fund research to provide hope for the future. Plus, all Alzheimer's Society runners in 2009 are being encouraged to draw press attention to their running tops by running in 1960s, 1970s or 1980s fancy dress as part of the charity's Jog Your Memory theme.

One in three people over 65 will die with dementia. There are 700,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025. Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading support services and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them.

Alzheimer's Society provides information and support for people with all forms of dementia and those who care for them. It runs quality services, funds research, advises professionals and campaigns for improved health and social care and greater public understanding and awareness of dementia.
