The BUPA Great Run Series

The BUPA-sponsored Great Runs are hugely enjoyable community events where up to 60,000 people, of all ages and from all over the country, have the chance to rub shoulders with some of the world's leading athletes and assorted celebrities!

Well over £40m has been raised for a host of charities by more than 500,000 runners in the last 11 years BUPA has sponsored the BUPA Great Run Series. BUPA is pleased to confirm that its nominated charity for 2006 Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The BUPA Great Ireland Run

The BUPA Great Ireland Run is a 10k run, staged at Dublin's Phoenix Park.

The 2006 BUPA Great Ireland Run takes place on Sunday 9 April.

The BUPA Great Manchester Run

The BUPA Great Manchester Run, one of the world's fastest growing events, is a 10k race that takes place in the city of Manchester.

The 2006 BUPA Great Manchester Run takes place on Sunday 21 May.

The BUPA Great Edinburgh Run

The BUPA Great Edinburgh Run is a 5-mile race that takes place in and around Edinburgh.

The 2006 BUPA Great Edinburgh Run takes place on Sunday 7 May.

The BUPA Great North Run

The BUPA Great North Run is a half marathon distance race that starts in Newcastle and finishes in South Shields. It is Europe's biggest road race and the biggest half marathon activity in the world.

Each year well over 40,000 people enter the activity including some of the best distance runners in the world and many celebrities from the worlds of sport and entertainment.

The 2006 BUPA Great North Run takes places on Sunday 1 October.

The BUPA Great South Run

The BUPA Great South Run is staged on a flat, fast 10-mile course along the sea front in Southsea and Portsmouth. Runners can enjoy the historic naval dockyards and picturesque views over the Solent to the Isle of Wright.

The 2006 BUPA Great South Run takes place on Sunday 22 October.
