How BUPA employees supported Comic Relief
Comic Relief call challenge has left 400 volunteers from UK Membership with red ears as well as red noses. On Friday 11 March, Staines and Manchester call centres took around 8,000 calls for Comic Relief, taking over £200,000 worth of Red Nose Day donations.
BUPA Manchester's big Comic Relief call challenge has received celebrity backing. Soap stars from "Coronation Street" and "Emmerdale" loaned their support as 200 BUPA staff answered donation calls on Red Nose Day. In Staines, the local fire brigade paid a visit, serving tea and cakes to all the volunteers.
To match that, a bumper Membership fundraising effort saw staff collect a staggering £32,000 as volunteers pulled out all the stops to back Comic Relief.
BUPA is matching BUPA Insurance's efforts around the country. The Big Hair theme stole the show nationwide as staff competed to style the biggest "do" and BUPA Care Homes saw the funny side of fundraising too with events dotted all over the country from sponsored karaoke to wacky hairdressing.
In fact employees from all areas of BUPA donned red noses raising money for Comic Relief and every pound collected will be matched by BUPA's Community Connections.
