Why is BUPA involved?

BUPA is closely involved with over 330 communities around the world. By taking care of people's health, BUPA people are naturally brought into the lives of many in the community. As well as individual contributions by you, the BUPA people, BUPA has also donated over £8m to medical research.

BUPA Community Connections aims to:

• raise awareness of the activities which contribute to life in local communities. As well as all the care provided to people BUPA-wide, e.g. through Hospitals, Care Homes, Wellness and Membership, many other activities are taking place. BUPA Great Runs runners, for example, raise about £4m per year to benefit local and national charities
• build on BUPA's reputation and role in the community
• create good relationships in the local and national community
• show that BUPA is a socially responsible organisation that cares about and responds to local issues
• show that BUPA supports all the community-based activities that people are taking part in across its businesses

A BUPA hospital is helping former homeless people, who are taking back control of their lives, to get back to work. Bristol Hospital offered two women, living in sheltered accommodation, work placement opportunities.
