Bupa Travel Services announces independence
2 November 2005
Bupa Travel has announced a new chapter in its 30-year history by taking over the management of all aspects of its products and underwriting. Previously the company operated in conjunction with Royal and Sun Alliance.
The move gives Bupa Travel the ability to provide more flexible products, tailored to its customers needs and to integrate further with Bupa’s UK and international insurance businesses, offering its members the reassurance of being covered by Bupa when they’re abroad, on holiday or work.
Nick Potter, general manager of Bupa Travel Services, said: "This is a great step forward for our business. It will enable us to be much more flexible in meeting our customers demands and needs, especially in the company and corporate arena.
"Bupa Travel has a wide range of policies, which we can tailor to the specific demands and needs of members. In addition, our members can feel confident that when they choose our travel insurance, they’re backed by the UK’s leading health and care company, rather than a general insurer."
Bupa currently has a one percent share of the UK insurance market and is looking to expand its business. 2005 has seen excellent growth for Bupa Travel across all its market sectors, most notably in the business market.
The assistance contract for Bupa Travel has been awarded to FirstAssist, who have been a working with the company for over 10 years and are one of the leading assistance companies in the UK.
