Bupa wins contract to supply holiday childcare to government departments and MET Police

5 September 2005

Bupa Childcare has been awarded the contract to supply holiday clubs to the Treasury, the Cabinet, the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), the Department for International Development (DfID) and the Metropolitan Police, as well as 30 other government departments.

Initially running for three years the contract will provide 96 places over four sites throughout the school holidays, equating to 5,184 childcare places per year for children aged between five and 12 years.

The holiday clubs will be based on-site at the Treasury, the Cabinet, DfES and the DfID. All Bupa’s playworkers will receive training specifically for the role and at least half of all the holiday club workers will have professional childcare qualifications.

Toni Rose, senior development manager at Bupa Childcare commented: “We are really excited to have been awarded this contract and look forward to opening the first holiday clubs in October this year. We will be providing the children with a relaxed and stimulating environment where they can have fun, meet friends and learn new skills though play, while parents can be safe in the knowledge that their children are receiving the very best care.”

Bupa has extensive experience in childcare and currently provides childcare support for over 50,000 employees as well as owning and operating Teddies, a leading group of 36 nurseries.

Bupa Childcare provides flexible, tailor-made childcare packages for businesses. A wide range of childcare services are available, including help finding and arranging childcare, through to full on-site childcare provision.

Toni Rose continues: “BUPA understands the stresses and strains of modern day family life and our childcare services allow employees to concentrate on their work, without the distraction of childcare worries. Our research shows that it also improves overall staff morale, efficiency, absenteeism and commitment, which in turn reduces the costs of recruiting and training replacement staff.
