Local students' cooking skills are ready to excel at BBQ
18 July 2005
Students from Feltham Community College’s XL club are due to cook up some treats for their teachers at the end of term party. The BBQ, which takes place at the college on Monday, 18 July at 2pm, is to be hosted by the teenagers who have recently learned culinary skills from Chef Karl Evans of Bupa’s River Court care home.
Karl Evans said: "They were great at making the burgers from scratch using natural ingredients. The group worked hard and are ready to show off what they have learned, I think it will be delicious and fun."
XL Club at Feltham Community College is one of 600 clubs in the UK run by The Prince's Trust youth charity. Volunteers from Bupa have helped the club's members to receive a Prince’s Trust award for the projects they have completed.
"The BBQ is to say thank you to all the people from Bupa who have made the various experiences the children have enjoyed possible," said teacher Lynda Harris. Student, Danny Parker, added: "thanks to everyone who has helped us."
Journalists and photographers are invited to attend the BBQ which will take place on Monday, 18 July at 2pm at Feltham Community College, but must register their attendance in advance with Joe Sharp.
