Health injection for Milton Keynes
19 June 2003
The growing number of residents and workers in Milton Keynes will be able to benefit from a big increase in the availability of health care, when the new Bupa Wellness Centre opens at the Blackberry Clinic, Walnut Tree this week. The centre will mean hundreds more people can address any health concerns with minimum fuss and maximum convenience.
Bupa Wellness will be able to offer personal and corporate Milton Keynes customers a wide range of health checks including the Key, Classic, Later Life and Wellwoman assessments. The health checks involve up to 36 medical tests, including ones for your heart, lungs, blood and urine. You also get the opportunity to discuss your results and any health concerns during a one-to-one session with a Bupa doctor. You will be given a comprehensive medical report to take home, including personalised health and lifestyle advice.
Bupa’s Dr Peter Mace, said: “We want to make health checks available to many more people so that health problems can be detected at the earliest possible opportunity when treatment is easier and before complications set in. Last year we identified a health problem for almost half of our customers. Not all were serious or had implications for the future, but some needed further investigation to exclude a significant illness.”
The new centre will offer same-day reporting for health assessments, using Consult, exclusive Bupa software which delivers reports which can be discussed with the health assessment doctor or health adviser. There will also be two general practitioners (GP) and two health advisers based at the centre.
Bruce Robinson, director of operations, Bupa Wellness, said:
“With the increasing resident and working population in Milton Keynes we decided it was the ideal location for a new Bupa Wellness Centre. The centre will offer the flexibility to enable people to fit health appointments into their working day with minimum disruption.”
