New guide dispels myths of employment law legislation
22 July 2005
Following a number of high profile employment tribunals, a new guide aiming to set the record straight on issues surrounding employment law and group income protection insurance was launched this week.
The guide from Bupa and Eversheds tackles the legal constraints posed by employment law legislation with helpful guidelines for employers. It also contains a summary of the many legal issues that have emerged from previous court cases together with an FAQ section.
Graham Clark, director of group risk at Bupa explains: "We want to dispel a few myths. Following a number of high profile employment tribunals, there has been much misinformation about the implications of group income protection insurance. Putting the record straight will give renewed confidence to employers who have previously been put off providing for the welfare of those employees whose prolonged illnesses have led to extended periods of absence and inability to work."
Simon Rice-Birchall, partner within the employment law team at Eversheds and technical author of the guide comments: "Employers and their advisers need to know what the real issues are, what they can and should do, and equally what pitfalls to be aware of. Eversheds is very pleased to be involved in helping to set the record straight."
Copies of the guide are available by contacting Carolyn Richards at Bupa on 0207 200 5927 or richarcn@bupa.com
