BUPA announces the sale of its corporate childcare business

Following an extensive review, BUPA is to sell its corporate childcare business to Emergency Child and Home Care Limited, part of the Family Care Company1, one of the UK's largest nanny and nursery businesses. BUPA believes that BUPA Childcare will be able to develop and continue to grow to its full potential being managed by a specialist childcare business with specific expertise in this market.
The Family Care Company has 24 branches throughout the UK, manages a chain of 20 crèches on behalf of various corporate clients; runs overseas recruitment schemes for the leading UK holiday company Thomson; and provides corporate childcare solutions to clients such as IBM, Barclays and the NHS.
BUPA entered the corporate childcare market in December 1998 and is a specialist provider of child and dependant care services to the employees of around 200 large organisations. It currently employs a highly qualified team of 20 permanent and 100 bank staff.
Steve Flanagan, commercial director of BUPA UK Membership, said: "The Family Care Company has a great deal of expertise in the corporate childcare market which will enable it to continue to develop the business and provide companies and their employees with high levels of service."
