10 ways to get more exercise

  1. Try out a few different activities until you find one you want to stick with – think about rock climbing, cycling, swimming or a team sport like netball or football
  2. Exercise with friends or work colleagues for added motivation
  3. Think of exercise as a great excuse for ‘me time’, away from all your daily pressures
  4. Set yourself a goal – such as losing weight or preparing for a race – and picture yourself fitting into that special outfit or crossing the finishing line
  5. Promise yourself tangible rewards that will encourage you to achieve these goals
  6. If you’re not a gym fan, try exercising somewhere different, like a forest, beach or park
  7. Avoid short trips in the car, walk instead and, when taking the bus to work, get off a couple of stops early and walk from there
  8. Use the stairs rather than the lift or escalators; you’ll feel better for it
  9. Put extra energy into your household chores (they’ll be out of the way quicker too)
  10. Keep it up – exercise improves health and fitness, gives you more energy and can help to reduce stress!
