Questions about occupational health services for railways

What should I do to discuss my requirements and get a quote? Hide

Since we take a consultative approach we'll need to gather some information about your company, the climate of your industry and details of the issues you currently face before we can give you a quote. This will allow us to identify the most cost-effective solution to meet your needs. To find out how we can help:

  • call Bupa Wellness on 0845 600 3476 or email us your enquiry
  • describe the services you are interested in, or tell us about the issues you face and we'll advise you on the best solution for your business
  • you will be asked about your company (ie name, address, contact numbers, size of business, nature of business)

We'll start with a fact-finding exercise over the telephone and depending on the size of your business and complexity of the issues, we may need to arrange a face-to-face meeting.

In this way, we can provide highly personalised, cost-effective and convenient solutions which can be tailored to your needs, whether the services you require are on-site, part-time, on the telephone, through the post or at our centres.

We operate from a number of locations. Does this make services difficult to deliver? Hide

Why should I choose Bupa Wellness over any other organisation? Hide

Bupa is the UK’s leading provider of corporate and preventive health services. We are also the most experienced supplier of occupational health services to the railway industry.

In fact, as the original British Rail occupational health service, we helped to develop the Railway Group Standards and have been supporting railway companies for more than 30 years. Along with a wide range of resources, this experience puts us in a unique position to offer you a complete and integrated approach to health management in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

We aim to provide the highest clinical quality and monitor our customer attitudes continuously to ensure that we are delivering high satisfaction levels.

Bupa Wellness has highly trained staff, numerous specialists within the organisation and access to an extensive network of additional specialists, if required. This enables us to offer solutions that have inherent flexibility to change with our customers’ changing business needs.

A quality management system is in place to ensure communication to all clinicians and customers regarding the introduction of updated or new protocols. Bupa Wellness operates a stringent clinical standards policy with a full internal audit of all procedures.

Bupa Wellness has the proven ability to deliver a professional service, which is measured through agreed key performance indicators.

The Bupa group has no shareholders, so any surplus is re-invested into developing state-of-the-art health and care services.

What is Bupa Wellness' approach? Hide

Bupa Wellness adopts a proactive and engaging approach to corporate healthcare. We aim to identify health risk factors, then mitigate and manage any health risks. The preventative approach applies to managing business risks, such as statutory compliance, as well as managing individual health risk factors.

We set standards of best practice with robust clinical governance, including regular clinical audit and appraisal, which ensures the highest standards of clinical care and quality management.

With the experience and resources at our disposal, we are in a unique position to offer you a complete and integrated approach to health management.

First, we have to build up a detailed picture of your business – and the health risks your workforce faces.

Once we fully understand your needs, we can help you develop a highly personalised and focused health strategy.

Whatever health issues concern you most, we will deliver solutions to you, on-site, via the internet or at a Bupa Wellness Centre close to you.

We work in close partnership with our clients to ensure that relevant health policy and procedures are in place and at the leading edge of best practice, and that risks to the business are identified, mitigated and managed quickly and reliably.

How do you manage the change from an existing provider? Hide

Medical records

Bupa Wellness would be the legal custodian of the OH records and the Data Protection Act 1998 would be complied with. Wherever third party medical reports are required, the Access to Medical Reports Act 1988 would be complied with. All Bupa Wellness staff are required to sign confidentiality agreements.

Information storage and control

Bupa Wellness has developed an in-house occupational health database in which all occupational health activity is recorded.

TUPE

As an experienced provider of services to corporate clients we have considerable expertise in the area of The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006, commonly known as TUPE.

We would normally discuss TUPE issues early on into the relationship with a new client as it is helpful to understand any likely TUPE obligations that may arise if we are successful in winning the business.

Following the successful award of the contract, Bupa Wellness would implement its strict Transfer of Medical Records procedure to obtain the records from the existing in-house occupational health team.
