How does the travel health service work? Hide

The travel health service can be tailored to meet your needs. Should you require an on-site presence for individual employees, you can call us on 0845 600 3476 to discuss your needs in detail. If you already have a corporate account with us please contact your account manager.

What are the benefits to my business? Hide

If you require staff to travel overseas, you should ensure that they are fully informed about the health risks they may face. Conforming to the World Health Organization's guidelines, the following services are delivered by fully trained nurses or doctors to help you fulfil your duty of care to your staff:

  • medical history review
  • up-to-the-minute health advice on destinations around the world
  • around the world
  • health counselling and literature offering personal advice to the traveller
  • vaccinations and immunisations
  • creation of travel health policy and procedures
How much does it cost? Hide

The cost varies depending on the number of employees you wish to vaccinate, where the vaccination programme is held and the type of vaccination. Some vaccines may require a course to be given over a series of appointments.

What happens if the appointment needs to change? Hide

For individual vaccination appointments at a Bupa Wellness centre you would to give at least 24 hours notice for cancellations.

What happens if an employee doesn't turn up for their appointment? Hide

You will still be charged for the vaccine as they cannot be returned once they have been removed from refrigeration.

Practical questions about our facilities and booking arrangements

How do I book an appointment and where will it be held? Hide

Your company will contact you with details of where the programme is taking place and how to book an appointment.

How long does the appointment last? Hide

Appointments for one vaccination take 15 minutes. If you require two or more vaccinations the appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes.

Would I be able to have a vaccine if I am unwell? Hide

If you have any concerns we advise that you contact the centre and discuss your specific circumstances with a doctor before attending.

Would I be able to have a vaccine if I am pregnant? Hide

Some vaccines may be inappropriate for pregnant women - we can discuss your particular circumstances.

Will the experience be painful? Hide

No. The vaccination may feel slightly uncomfortable, but not painful.

What happens if I have an adverse reaction to an immunisation or medication? Hide

Should you have any concerns or queries following your appointment please contact the centre you attended. Centres are normally open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm. If you have any medical concerns outside these hours please contact your GP, emergency services or NHS Direct.
