Welcome to Braid Hills Care Home in Edinburgh
Braid Hills can be found in a delightful leafy suburb of Edinburgh, with stunning views across the Pentland Hills. Purpose-built in the mid-1990s, the home has been extended and refurbished twice since then, and now has 126 rooms across four unique houses. Two houses provide care for frail elderly residents, one specialises in dementia care and the fourth offers care and support to young, physically disabled people.
As everyone is different and has different needs, we make sure that every resident living with us has their own personal care plan that's unique to them and them alone.

Life at Braid Hills
At Braid Hills we have a packed schedule of events and activities, giving our residents a wide range of things to do.
Offering variety in the types of activities we provide our residents is important, it helps with physical and mental stimulation and can also give structure to a resident's day, that's why we have a dedicated activities co-ordinator to help plan them. One day we might be hosting some light exercises and music and movement, while on another it could be art classes and concerts.
We have frequent visits from local entertainers and a hairdresser works from the home's salon four days a week, which is ideal for those who fancy a pampering session. For those that like to get stuck into a good book there is a mobile library service that calls to the home on a regular basis.

- Monthly special events

A wide range of balanced, nutritious meals are prepared each day, and our chef works hard to make sure the menus on offer are both tasty and also cater for any special dietary requirements any resident may have.

How do I arrange a visit?
We have an open door policy, so you are welcome to pop in to the home at any time. However, we recommend you avoid visiting at main meal times as these can be very busy. If you would like to speak to the home manager when you visit, you can make an appointment by calling us first.
Can I bring my own furniture?
Depending on its size, new residents are welcome to bring furniture to their new room. Many of our residents bring a favourite armchair or pictures and other small belongings to personalise their room.
How soon can I move in?
This depends on availability of rooms in the home, understanding the cost of care and the person moving in receiving a care assessment.Ask us a question
