Know your sports injuries - the leg

Sporting injuries are becoming increasingly well known due to the media's obsession with sporting prowess. But you don't have to be a famous athlete to suffer from a sports injury.

The good news is that most sporting soft-tissue injuries can be avoided by stretching properly and warming up before a game and taking the time to cool down afterwards. These precautions will ensure that your muscles are warmed up and that your joints are working at an increased range of motion when you are playing, reducing your risk of damage to muscles, ligaments and joints.

However, injuries on the pitch can happen to the best of us so sometimes all you can do is to try to recover as effectively as possible. In this series of articles we look at the most common leg injuries and how they are usually treated. Just click on the part of the leg you are interested in.
