Meet our team

Whatever your personal needs, you will be safe in the knowledge that our team of experts will provide the specialist care and attention you need.

Being manager of a Bupa care home is a tremendous challenge - and a hugely rewarding experience.

As well as ensuring residents are getting the quality care they want and need, a home manager must also be experienced, with many qualities and be able to demonstrate that they really are providing a good service.

The manager ensures that his or her home meets the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (for homes in England and Wales) and the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (for homes in Scotland). Both commissions were set up to regulate the standards of health and social care to ensure there is better care for everyone – including those in Bupa homes – by carrying out inspections and issuing fines or other penalties if things are below the required standard.

These inspections offer prospective residents an external, regulatory opinion of the care home and therefore a fair view of the standards providedby that.

Once a resident has moved in, the home manager ensures all health and personal care needs are met through adequate staffing.

Each resident has a personal care plan used to manage very aspects of a resident’s care. It is the responsibility of the home manager to ensure his/her staff use these plans effectively and update daily them.

Home managers also handle the recruitment of new care workers, the financial management of the home, links with the local community and ensure that full services and facilities of the home are available to all who might need them.

Skills and experience
Most home managers come from a nursing background, but many bring with them additional and unique qualifications and experiences.

They will have received regular training in a wide range of skills that not only boost their ability to do their job but also to progress their career.

Bupa places a strong emphasis on professional development to help maintain our team of dedicated people. In turn this means our staff can build lasting relationships with residents and provide them with the best quality care and support.

And that makes a manager’s job even more rewarding.
