Carer

Bupa carers are at the heart of what we do - giving our residents the wide range of personal care they need - and the dignity and respect they deserve.

If caring is for you, we’ll give you the training and development you need to be a part of our team. We’ve got over 300 Bupa care homes across the UK, so you can search for a job that’s local to you. Many care roles offer flexible working hours so you can balance family, study and work.

What carers do

Carers work as part of a team led by qualified nurses or senior carers. They may also give dedicated support and attention to some residents as their ‘key carer’.

Carers spend most of their time with residents, helping them at mealtimes and with dressing, washing and using the bathroom. They help and encourage residents to be active both physically and mentally with group and individual activities.

Carers often work on shifts, covering either days or nights and roles can be full-time, part-time or on a ‘bank’ (ad-hoc) basis.

Carer: A day in the life

Why become a Bupa carer?

Caring for people is hugely rewarding - especially when you’re part of a motivated, passionate team lead by good managers, strong resources and excellent training. Along with job satisfaction, caring for residents also means that no two days are ever the same - you’ll find variety and plenty of challenge in care work.

Our homes are stable, supportive, positive places to work and because we’re a not-for-profit organisation, we continually invest money in our homes and the care of our residents.

Carers in Bupa care homes often progress to senior care roles or activity co-ordinator roles if they wish. Some train as nurses, and can go on to become care home managers.

Bupa care homes give high-quality, ongoing training to care assistants so that they have the skills and understanding they need to excel in their work. And as well as competitive salaries we offer a diverse range of benefits – you can find out more by following the links below.

Although care assistants come from all walks of life, they have one thing in common: a genuine passion for caring for people.

Beyond the standard documentation that all applicants need, there are no special requirements to become a care assistant. Bupa care homes provide industry-leading, on-the-job training. But you will need energy, patience, a positive outlook and most important of all a vocation for care.
