Clapham residents ready for their new look care home

Residents, staff and friends of Bupa’s Collingwood Court Nursing Home in Clapham are ready to celebrate the reopening of their new-look home this Wednesday following a £417,000 refurbishment.

The transformation of Collingwood Court Nursing Home has given a fresh new look that residents are proud of. Changes include a lightened interior for the communal areas of the home, new furniture for the dining room and lounge, as well as a complete makeover for everyone’s individual rooms.

Residents have been involved with the refresh every step of the way from choosing the colour schemes in their own bedrooms to deciding the décor of the ‘Diana Nursing Unit’.

Collingwood Court Nursing Home, Nelsons Row, Clapham, London, will be officially reopened with a ribbon cutting at 12 noon by Pauline Radcliffe, a relative of one of the home’s residents. The Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Christopher Wellbelove, will also be in attendance.

The celebrations will include entertainment from a local musician and light refreshments. There will also be tours around the home and grounds by residents keen to show their new surroundings to family, friends and the local community alike.

Care home manager, Veronica Lee is thrilled with the changes and said: “With the home looking as fantastic as it does, I know that the residents and employees are looking forward to showing it off to the local community. The changes have completely altered the ambience and given residents a place they can be proud of.”

The refurbishment is part of Bupa Care Services’ multi-million pound investment in its care homes, to help improve the standard of care for older people throughout the UK.

The investment means that a large number of facilities have been revamped, including ensuring that every bedroom has been kitted out with new furniture, curtains, fittings, and flat screen TVs. Residents can also join the growing wave of “silver surfers” with internet access in their rooms.
