Getting your place in a care home
The decision making process to move into a care home isn’t the same for everyone. Some people may have been thinking about care for a long time and will have had the time to research and visit care homes, weighing up the options.
For others, the choice has to be a quick one, perhaps because a relative has been in hospital and can’t look after themselves at home, or if they have a long-term illness that has deteriorated suddenly.
Every Bupa care home has its own dedicated manager and administration team. So, as soon as you’ve chosen a care home, talk to the manager about availability.
If there isn’t room in your preferred Bupa care home straight away, we’ll always try to accommodate you elsewhere. Even if this means a short stay in a second-choice home while you’re on the waiting list for your preferred option.
Our online tool has contact details for all our care homes. You can search for a care home by postcode, town, type of care or for a particular care home by name.
Because different care homes offer different types of care, the home manager will need to understand your specific care needs before you move into their care home.

If you’ll be paying for your own care, you won’t need to be assessed by your Local Authority. Once you have chosen the best Bupa care home for you, the care home manager will assess you to make sure we can give you the care you need.
Before you move into your new care home, you’ll be asked to sign an ‘acceptance form’ which sets out the terms and conditions of your stay.
The form covers:
