Bupa care homes: the basics

Our homes offer peace of mind, care, support and security. Living in a Bupa care home means you (or a friend or relative if you are looking for a care home for someone else) are free from the worry of maintaining a home or of being alone when you need help.

You don’t need Bupa health insurance to stay in one of our homes. Our high quality facilities and specialist care are available to everyone, including those who are entitled to help with funding.

Quality, individual care

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and that’s why we treat all our residents as individuals, giving them the highest standards of care and service.

Every resident has a personal care plan and a key-carer or named nurse. Whatever your personal needs, our team of experts can provide the specialist care and attention you need.

Our homes can offer a range of care options tailored to you.

  • Temporary care if you’re recovering from an operation or illness, or need respite care
  • Residential care – if you’re finding it increasingly difficult to cope at home
  • Nursing and specialist care for those with dementia, the young physically disabled and people with Parkinson’s or Huntington’s disease.

Affordable care

Our homes offer comfort and care whatever your budget – and you don’t have to have Bupa health insurance to live in a Bupa care home.

Bupa cares for over 18,000 older people in the UK. Some of our residents are privately funded, but over 70 per cent get contributions towards their care from Local Authorities or the NHS.

The best that life has to offer

Personalised care is at the heart of our service. We provide the overall care people need while respecting their own individual tastes and interests. That's why, when someone moves into a Bupa care home, we work with them and their relatives to find out as much as possible about them as a person.

Every home provides a warm, homely environment, with chefs serving nutritious menus and dedicated activity co-ordinators organising daily and weekly activities and events.

Our 24/7 visiting hours mean you’ll always be able to see your friends and relatives, and, if visiting isn’t possible, most homes offer lines for private telephones and some have internet access to help you keep in touch.

Where to start

If you think that a care home may be the right option, you should discuss it with your GP. They will refer you to your Local Authority’s social services department who will carry out an assessment of your needs.

A care home manager will use this assessment to produce a report called a ‘pre-care plan’, outlining the type of care they think you’ll need.

Before choosing a care home it is important to visit the home, meet the manager, staff and residents and ask lots of questions.

Our online tool has contact details for all our care homes. You can search for a care home by postcode, town, type of care or for a particular care home by name.
