How our staff look after you
Our staff work together to make your new home a happy, comfortable and safe place. You’ll be treated as an individual by each staff member from your key-carer or named nurse, who personalise your care, to the housekeeper who knows just how you like your room.
You’ll meet the home manager when you look around a care home for the first time. From day one, they’ll welcome you and your family, and make you feel at home.
The home manager makes sure that all staff get to know you, understand and plan your care needs and get to know more about you as a person, by creating your ‘map of life’. They’ll always be there for you – to listen to any concerns and to meet your changing needs.
Arriving at a new care home and your ‘map of life’
We recruit only the right staff and provide the training they need to ensure a high quality of care. The home manager oversees every aspect of the home – from nursing to catering – to meet our high standards of quality.
Home managers also make sure that the care home is a vibrant part of the community – and that you continue to be part of that too if you wish.
In our specialist nursing homes, a registered nurse leads each care team. They make sure that the team meets your personal care needs, every day, around the clock. They make sure that you get all the medical care you need.
Nurses are involved in your care from your arrival – or even before you move in. A nurse will spend time with you to create a personal care plan that helps every staff member to provide the care you need, in the way you prefer it. They will keep that plan up-to-date to keep pace with you.
Regular specialist training means that our nurses keep their health knowledge current so that they can always bring you the best care.
Care assistants are there to attend to your personal care needs. They’ll get to know the way you like to do things, from your early morning cup of coffee or tea to your daily time spent in the garden.
Working as a team with nurses and all care home staff, they keep your personal care plan up to date. This way all staff understand your care needs and preferences.
Care assistants come from all walks of life but they have one thing in common: a genuine passion in caring for you, in a way that gives you the dignity, respect and enjoyment you deserve.
We give them ongoing training to continually develop their skills. In turn, they give you the best quality care.
You can keep up with your interests when you move to one of our care homes. If you are passionate about a particular hobby or simply enjoy some quiet time with good music or a newspaper, our activity co-ordinators can help make it part of your daily life.
There is something new to explore year-round from film festivals to summer fetes as our homes take part in Bupa’s ‘Big 12’ – a themed calendar of monthly events.
Our chefs cater to you. They take into account all your dietary needs and preferences. And they take pride in offering a choice of tasty, healthy meals every day, using fresh, quality ingredients.
Our housekeeping staff will keep your room clean and tidy, and the way you like it. With our maintenance staff, they’ll also make sure that the whole home is shipshape and safe for all residents.
