Facilities and services

We design our care home facilities and services around you, with your comfort and needs in mind.

While every home is run to the same high standards, and delivers the very best in professional care, the specific facilities and services you’ll find in each one will be different. We can, however, give you an idea of what to expect in all our homes.

Facilities

Our care homes are purpose built or specifically adapted to provide security and comfort for our residents.

Bedrooms

All Bupa care homes have private bedrooms. We may even have some large enough to accommodate two people if you wish. You’re welcome to bring personal possessions with you, such as ornaments, pictures and even small items of furniture.

Many rooms are en-suite (although this varies between homes) and have telephone and television points. All our rooms have smoke detectors, 24-hour call systems and are fully heated and well furnished.

Communal areas

Our homes vary in size and layout, so the type and number of communal areas from home to home will be different. Each home will have at least a communal lounge and dining area and many also have dedicated ‘quiet’ areas for peace and relaxation away from TVs, radios and phones.

Outdoors

Outside areas also vary from home to home. Some have landscaped gardens and patios areas while others feature cottage gardens.

Some of our homes have adapted their outside spaces to stimulate the senses and provide access and enjoyment for those with limited mobility, for example:

  • sensory gardens
  • water features
  • wheelchair accessible garden paths
  • raised flowerbeds

Services

As well as the very best in care, every Bupa care home provides freshly prepared meals, laundry services and activities.

Laundry and cleaning

Each home has a laundry service. All you have to do is make sure your clothes are labelled. (The minimum temperature is 40 degrees centigrade, so check labels before you arrive and perhaps ask relatives to launder delicate items.)

All our homes, including the bedrooms, are cleaned every day by our housekeeping teams.

Catering

We deliver high-quality menus tailored to our residents’ dietary and medical needs – and we make sure personal likes and dislikes are catered for.

Activities, trips and events

We organise visits to local places of interest, museums or galleries and arrange day trips – perhaps to do some shopping or for a visit to the local park. Friends and relatives are more than welcome to join us on trips.

We’ll also do our best to support your own activities and interests.

Activities, clubs and interests

And we play an active part in our local communities – find out more about how we keep involved.

Extras

There are some additional services available in some of our homes, for example hairdressing, newspapers, physiotherapy, chiropody, speech therapy, occupational therapy and aromatherapy. Each care home manager will give you the details and costs of extra services available in their home.

Professional services

All sorts of professionals visit our homes – including doctors, dentists, opticians, medical specialists, hairdressers and therapists.

The home manager will make appointments for your specialists to visit you. It’s a good idea to speak to each of them first though, to check that they’re happy to visit you at your new home.

Supporting your faith

We’ll help support your spiritual life, whatever your faith. We can arrange for visits from non-denominational and religious ministers, and many of our homes provide the opportunity for residents to attend services.

The right care for you

Every home is different, so before deciding which care home is right for you it is important to visit the home and see the facilities and services for yourself.

You can use our online tool to search for a care home by postcode, town, type of care or for a particular care home by name. You can also find contact details for all our care homes. Call the home manager to arrange a visit and check bed availability.
