Along with its stunning countryside setting and long reaching views of the Isle of Arran, this home offers modern, accessible, high quality care facilities. Arran View is located in Ayrshire, just three miles from Saltcoats.

 

The care we offer
This purpose built home comprises five houses that have been designed specifically to meet the needs of elderly residents. It offers both nursing care and nursing dementia care. In addition we offer care for young people with physically disabilities. Arran View welcomes residents from all types of funding including local authority, private or NHS continuing care.

Key features of Arran View
The home has recently been extensively redecorated throughout and boasts a range of new facilities. Residents at Arran View now benefit from large flat screen televisions in the living areas of all five houses. A hydrotherapy unit has also been introduced and five bespoke wet rooms have been added to meet residents’ changing individual needs.

Bedrooms
All bedrooms are comfortable and bright with cosy furnishings and views of the delightful gardens. Each room has a television, thermostatic radiator and safety features such as smoke detectors and a 24-hour call system.

Home life
Each of the five houses at Arran View has a well-furnished lounge, light and airy conservatory and traditional dining area. This provides a meeting place for residents to relax and entertain guests. All houses are single-storey and have been designed to provide an accessible environment for all.

Types of care

  • Dementia care
    The most common mental infirmities in older people are dementia-related conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease. Depending on the level of confusion, care may be available in residential or nursing homes, but there are also specialist units with experienced nursing staff and facilities adapted to the needs of residents. If you're not sure of the care required, it is best to discuss this with the manager of your chosen home, who can arrange an assessment. Dementia care is often referred to as Elderly Mentally Infirm or EMI care.
  • Respite
    Respite care can offer a welcome break for you and/or your carer and can be provided in most care homes, offering residents a temporary stay for perhaps a week or two. It can also help to cover periods of time when a carer is unavailable. Many Bupa care homes offer respite care if there is a room vacant.
  • Palliative
    This is active, compassionate care of the chronically and terminally ill, directed towards improving the quality of life. Palliative care particularly focuses on the control of pain and symptoms. These specialist approaches include the individual, the family, carers and friends, and extend to bereavement and grief.
  • Convalescence
    Homes that offer short term care for people recovering from illness or an operation.
  • Nursing
    Nursing homes provide accommodation, meals and personal care, but also have qualified nurses in constant attendance. Many also provide more specialist care for specific conditions. A nursing home will generally charge higher fees than a residential home because it offers care by qualified nurses, although the NHS now makes a contribution to nursing care fees (see 'Paying for care'). The minimum age for admission is normally 65, although you should check with individual homes as some are able to accept younger residents.
  • Young physically disabled
    This is residential or nursing care for people with physical disabilities who are unable to live in their own homes. It may be within a care home for older people, a specialist care home for Young Physically Disabled residents, or a unit attached to a care home. Each home will be registered for different age groups, so you should check with the individual home. Please note that 'young' may refer to any age from 18 up to the age of 65, to distinguish it from care for older people, and you should check with your chosen home.
