Park Avenue Nursing Home

Overlooking Soldiers Field, close to the upmarket district of Roundhay in North Leeds, Park Avenue is an impressive private house, converted into a comfortable home for elderly residents.

The care we offer
We offer several types of stay depending on the level of support required – from long term care and nursing, to respite, convalescence and palliative care. We provide high levels of personal care to our residents through the expertise of our dedicated and professional registered nurses and care assistants.

Key features of Park Avenue
The home is located at the edge of Soldiers Field. This provides lovely views and close proximity to the stunning Roundhay Park with its 700 acres of parkland and gardens. Park Avenue also boasts a beautiful enclosed courtyard area with a feature water fountain. The shops, restaurants and facilities of Roundhay itself are within half a mile of the home.

Bedrooms
All bedrooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard and most have ensuite facilities for residents' privacy and convenience. There are also safety features as standard including smoke detectors and 24-hour call systems. Some rooms are large enough to accommodate two people if required.

Home life
Park Avenue has been carefully planned to provide a safe environment. This allows residents, particularly those with dementia, to walk around freely and safely. There is a choice of lounge areas where residents can relax or entertain guests. A wide variety of activities help keep residents active and alert, including reminiscence therapy. Family and friends are most welcome to visit at any time.

Types of care

  • Dementia care
The most common mental infirmities in older people are dementia-related conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease. Depending on the level of confusion, care may be available in residential or nursing homes, but there are also specialist units with experienced nursing staff and facilities adapted to the needs of residents. If you're not sure of the care required, it is best to discuss this with the manager of your chosen home, who can arrange an assessment. Dementia care is often referred to as Elderly Mentally Infirm or EMI care.
  • Respite
Respite care can offer a welcome break for you and/or your carer and can be provided in most care homes, offering residents a temporary stay for perhaps a week or two. It can also help to cover periods of time when a carer is unavailable. Many Bupa care homes offer respite care if there is a room vacant.
  • Palliative
This is active, compassionate care of the chronically and terminally ill, directed towards improving the quality of life. Palliative care particularly focuses on the control of pain and symptoms. These specialist approaches include the individual, the family, carers and friends, and extend to bereavement and grief.
  • Convalescence
Homes that offer short term care for people recovering from illness or an operation.
