Bupa Colon Health
Finding the early signs of bowel cancer and starting prompt treatment can make a significant difference to your chances of survival.
Unlike the traditional method of colon screening, Bupa Colon Health uses advanced CT scanning to look inside the bowel and check for polyps. If potential cancerous polyps are detected, we would aim to refer you to have a colonoscopy before the polyps can become cancerous. The test is simple and lasts just 20 minutes.
The scan will need to be performed at a scanning centre. It takes approximately one week to process the results from your scan so your scan appointment and consultation appointment will need to be scheduled one week apart.
Bupa Colon Health can be booked on its own or as an add-on to Bupa Advanced, Complete and Mature Health Assessments. For advice on how to add a Bupa Supplementary Health Check to a health assessment, please call us on 0845 600 3458.*
Bupa Colon Health

What is it?
Virtual colonoscopy (also called a computerised tomography colonography or CT colonography) allows doctors to look at the large bowel (colon).
Why do we do this?
A virtual colonoscopy can examine the colon and rectum and detect abnormalities such as polyps and signs of bowel cancer.
What does the test involve?
The test is done using a CT scanner. The CT scanner uses X-rays to produce two-dimensional and three-dimensional images of the whole of the colon and rectum.
