Practical questions about booking arrangements and facilities

Our private GP services are available nationwide. Find a GP service in your area.

What are your opening hours? Hide

Our opening hours vary by centre, but appointments are usually available on weekdays from 8.30am to 5.15pm. Evening consultations may also be available, please ask for details. We do not offer a 24 hour ”out of hours” emergency service.

How do I book an appointment? Hide

Call us on 0845 600 3458 or email us.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment? Hide

If you should need to change or cancel your appointment, we can do this for you, but late notice cancellations and non attendance will incur a cancellation fee.

How much does an appointment cost? Hide

Prices start at £55 for a 15 minute appointment. You will be charged extra for additional services, such as a blood test.

How do I pay? Hide

You can pay by credit card, cheque or cash after your treatment.

What provision do you have for disabled customers? Hide

All customers are welcome to attend Bupa Centres. Please let us know of any disability at the time of booking so that special arrangements and/or an extended appointment can be made for you if necessary. For customers with restricted mobility we may need to give additional instructions regarding parking or access to the building. Customers with other difficulties such as communication problems should, where possible, arrange for a friend, relative or other assistant to accompany them. For example, this could include a signer.

Bupa does not have specialised equipment such as hoists.

Specific questions about your appointment and what happens on the day

How long does my appointment last? Hide

Most centres offer 15 minute appointments which is usually sufficient for minor problems or 30 minutes if you feel you need a longer consultation. You can choose your appointment length at the time of booking.

What happens if my appointment overruns? Hide

If, despite booking a short appointment more time is required, we will endeavour to make this available to you. But there will be a charge for extra time.

How do I get a referral if further investigation or treatment is needed? Hide

If you need specialist attention, your private doctor will recommend the right consultant for your condition.

Please remember to check that you are either insured for any referral or that you have alternative arrangements in place to meet the costs.

Are you able to refer me to NHS rather than private specialist or consultants? Hide

We do not normally have access to NHS clinics with the exception of accident and emergency, sexual health and family planning clinics.

General questions about GP services

Do I need to be a Bupa member to use the GP service? Hide

No, you don’t need to be a member to use our private GP service. You can make an appointment with a GP even if you have not used any Bupa service before.

Statement of confidentiality Hide

The first time that you contact us, we will ask you to provide some personal details in order to open a confidential medical file which will then contain all your records. These are subject to the same strict rules of confidentiality that you would expect of any medical records. No information will be passed to any third party without your consent.

Will seeing a private GP affect my relationship with my NHS GP? Hide

We aim to offer a level of care that is right for you and your circumstance. You may choose to use the Bupa GP service for all your routine doctor requirements or just occasionally for advice - it is entirely up to you. However, we strongly advise that you remain on the list with an NHS GP, close to your home, to ensure assistance in the event of a medical emergency.
