Intermediary update
We know our members need us to provide the best possible healthcare experience at all stages of their lives. This is why we have been working hard to improve and expand our services and will continue to do so as healthcare continues to change.
Our Working Harder For You brochure has been developed with one aim: to ensure our members, your clients, always have the best possible experience of Bupa.
With no shareholders, everything we do is for the benefit of our members - from creating new ways of informing and supporting patient decision-making to working with providers to make healthcare more affordable.
We don’t underestimate the trust you and our members have placed in us. Moving forward, we’ll continue to do everything we can, not just to improve our services, but to innovate and improve independent healthcare as a whole.
We hope you’ll find this PDF informative and useful and email both existing and prospective clients this information.
In May 2011 we took steps to address variations in the treatment received by our members by introducing a medical review process, to evaluate whether the recommended course of treatment was in line with our policy of only funding clinical best practice. This initiative related specifically to Bupa patients being referred for a knee arthroscopy and we have extended this to the surgical removal of teeth. The evidence from the NHS suggests that concerns about "unwarranted variation" are shared in the public sector.
