Equal opportunities and diversity Hide

Equal opportunities eliminates unfairness and creates a 'level playing field' making the same opportunities available to all individuals, however different they are from each other. Diversity, on the other hand, recognises that these very differences provide additional opportunities to the business.

We are committed to an environment which will attract, retain and motivate its people. The principles of equal opportunities are firmly integrated in our human resource policies, and we welcome diversity as a competitive advantage in our business.

Bupa will not tolerate discrimination in any form, particular in relation to an individual or group’s gender, ethnic minority, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation or age. As a member of Race for Opportunity, we support the national campaign to encourage investment in the diversity of Britain's ethnic minority communities through the creation of national and local partnerships in employment, marketing, purchasing and community involvement.

We are also members of Opportunity Now, a national campaign promoting gender equality and have representation on their advisory board.

Disability Hide

We are a Gold Card (core founder) member of the Employers' Forum on Disability, a group of employers' representatives concerned with the issues surrounding disability.

We continue to employ people with disabilities and to provide necessary support to enable employees who become disabled to continue their employment. We train managers with a wide range of recruitment skills to incorporate awareness of the Disability Discrimination Act (1995).

Data protection Hide

As part of our recruitment process you will be asked questions about your gender, ethnicity, disability and age. Any information that you provide will be used solely to monitor our performance against our policy and procedures on diversity as described above and will not be accessible to anyone who is directly involved in the recruitment process.

While the directors of Bupa aim to ensure the full application of this policy, it is the responsibility of every employee to assist in the creation of a working environment which is equal to all.
