I look out at the garden

Luise Critcher admits she was dubious about home healthcare before she commenced her treatment.

Following a three-year remission, Luise is now having further chemotherapy for her ovarian cancer.

"Before I knew anything about Bupa Home Healthcare I had visions that a bag of drugs would be dropped off and I would be left to do it myself. I really didn't know what to expect," said Luise.

But now she would be the first to recommend it.

"Jo stays with me the whole time and that gives her the opportunity to explain what drugs she is giving me and what they do."

Luise's treatment normally lasts for six hours and, for her, home treatment is by far the better option.

"I don't have to worry about getting to the hospital, I can choose where I have the chemo."

"Last time I sat in the conservatory and looked out at the garden, it was lovely."

It gives her a little peace and time for reflection in the comfort of familiar surroundings.

"The nurses in the hospital are very sweet, but they can't just sit down with you for the whole time."

With Jo by her side it's a different story. She is there for the entire time and, without the distraction of other patients, it gives Luise a chance to ask her any questions.

"We talk about everything. Last time we went through the history of chemo and what the different ones are for - it's great to have such one-to-one care."
