My name is Mary Stapleton, and I'm one of the clinical nurse specialists in breast care here at The Royal Marsden Hospital. There is a team of nurse specialists here, and our role is to provide information and emotional support to anyone diagnosed with breast cancer.
The unit provides a rapid and comprehensive assessment for anyone referred with breast problems. This assessment involves a coordinated approach, so there are a number of personnel working on the unit. This includes consultant surgeons, medical oncologists, clinical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and radiographers, clinical nurse specialists and clerical staff.
