Health insurance is often referred to as private medical insurance. It gives you and your staff access to private healthcare for conditions that:

  • are covered by the policy
  • and develop after the policy starts

One of the main benefits of health insurance is fast access to medical treatment.

Bupa Select is our health insurance exclusively for business customers. Choose from three different levels of cover to tailor your policy to your business.

Whether it’s supporting your team’s mental and physical health, providing full cancer care as standard, or giving your team 24/7 access to a GP, we’re proud to give you nothing less than health expertise.

Bupa health insurance covers your employees for acute conditions. This means disease, illness or injury that are likely to respond quickly to treatment. The policy covers acute conditions that begin after the policy starts. Pre-existing conditions may not be covered.

Where your team have treatment will vary depending on where they live and the type of treatment they need. This could be in a private hospital, health centre or private section of an NHS hospital.

There are general exclusions which are not covered as standard within our health insurance policies. For example the long-term treatment and monitoring of chronic conditions or cosmetic surgery.

We’ll also need to know about any pre-existing conditions or symptoms you and your team may have. Pre-existing conditions won’t affect the cost of your policy. However, they may affect what the policy covers.

Our health insurance benefits

From healthcare round the clock, to access to cutting edge care, we're proud to give you nothing less than health expertise.

†† With Bupa full cancer cover, there are no limits on how long your treatment lasts or how much it costs, for as long as you have Bupa health cover. You must use a hospital or health centre from the Bupa network and a consultant that we recognise and charges within Bupa rates (a fee-assured consultant).

‡‡ Access to eligible breakthrough cancer drugs and treatments often before they are available on the NHS or approved by NICE as long as they are evidence-based. Applies to eligible cancer drugs and treatments covered by your policy. Bupa will not fund for genetic testing when used solely for the purpose of screening.

††† Direct Access telephone services are available as long as the symptoms are covered under the policy. If your cover excludes conditions you had before your policy started, We will ask you to provide evidence from your GP that your symptoms are not pre-existing for a period of up to two years from policy start date (or five years in the case of mental health) before we can refer you to a consultant or therapist through the Direct Access service. For rolling moratorium underwritten members we will ask for evidence each time you claim for a condition not claimed for before. Always call us first to check your eligibility.
