Q. I have Bupa Health Insurance. Is it worth me having Bupa Health Expenses Cover or Bupa Health Expenses Cover Plus as well? Hide

A. Yes – Bupa Health Expenses Cover and Bupa Health Expenses Cover Plus differ from Health Insurance as they offer cash back towards a variety of everyday healthcare costs that are not usually covered on a private medical insurance scheme such as dental and optical. Q. What is the difference between Bupa Health Expenses Cover, Bupa Health Expenses Cover Plus and Health Insurance? Hide

A. Bupa Health Expenses Cover offeres three cash back benefits towards everyday healthcare and Bupa Health Expenses Cover Plus offers up to 14 cash and other benefits towards everyday healthcare. Health Insurance options range from basic cover for in-patient and surgical care, to extensive health plans. Health Insurance subscriptions may increase as a result of age and/or claims.

Q. What can I claim for on the Dental benefit*? Hide

A. 100% refund up to benefit limit, from check ups and hygenist visits to treatment.

Q. What can I claim for on the Optical benefit*? Hide

A. 100% refund up to benefit limit, from sight tests to glasses and prescription sunglasses to contact lenses.

Q. Are pre-existing conditions covered? Hide

A. Pre-existing conditions are covered for all benefits except hospital in-patient and hospital day-patient benefits.

Q. Who is covered under Bupa Health Expenses Cover and who is covered under Bupa Health Expenses Cover Plus? Hide

A. Bupa Health Expenses Cover covers you only. Bupa Health Expenses Cover Plus can cover you if you choose to upgrade, you, your partner and up to a maximum of three dependant children+.

Q. Am I covered for NHS and private hospital stays*? Hide

A. We offer a set amount for each night in hospital, regardless of whether you choose to stay in a NHS or a private hospital.

Q. Do I need a medical before I join? Hide

A. No – you will not be asked to have a medical.

If you have an existing Cash Plan

Q. What happens if I have another cash plan and I am currently receiving hospital treatment for a pre-existing condition? Hide

A. If you have already claimed for hospital benefits relating to a pre-existing condition on another cash plan scheme, you may be able to continue to claim on Bupa Health Expenses Cover Plus*.

Q. Can I claim for all benefits straight away if I transfer from my current provider? Hide

A. Yes you can as there are usually no waiting periods for any benefit if you are transferring from another cash plan. (Proof of current cash plan membership is required.)
