What is it?

• An internal examination of the vagina and cervix together with a physical examination of the pelvic area

Health implications

• Detection of any lumps or masses will allow further investigation to identify their nature and any course of treatment.

NB This cannot be carried out if you are menstuating. Please try to arrange your screen mid-cycle to avoid having to return for this part of your assessment.
