Resting ECG (electrocardiogram)

What it measures

• An electrocardiogram measures the "electrical signature" of each heart beat
• A 12-lead ECG "looks" at the heart from 12 different angles

Health implications

• An abnormal ECG can identify coronary artery disease, an enlarged heart and disturbances in the electrical control of the heart (arrhythmia)
