Mother of three, Norah Lewis, is celebrating her 107th birthday this Saturday 24 August at her home at Bupa Erskine Hall in Watford.

After living through two world wars, Norah has experienced a lot in her lifetime and still holds fond memories of when she celebrated as a child with her four siblings.

To mark the incredible milestone, Norah will be celebrating with family, friends and staff at the home, where they will enjoy tea and birthday cake.

Born in Cheshire, Norah went on holidays to Liverpool as a child and America as an adult, before living on a farm in Wales. She has only been living at Bupa Erskine Hall Care Home since early August.

Norah was married to late husband, George Lewis, who was a former pilot in the Second World War. The couple tied the knot in 1936 when she was 24, later having three children together. Norah is now a grandmother to three, and a great grandmother to three more.

When asked the secret to a long, happy life, Norah said: “Eat lots of freshly produced food and have an active lifestyle. I used to walk or cycle almost everywhere I went, and it kept me fit and healthy!”

Russell Sharp, Home Manager at Erskine Hall Care Home, said: “We are looking forward to celebrating this huge milestone with her. Norah is one of our wisest residents and the team love hearing her stories and memories.”

Bupa Erskine Hall Care Home is recently refurbished and welcomes anyone in need of nursing or residential care, including those living with Parkinson’s or Huntington’s disease. Residents are offered a full programme of regular and seasonal activities, as well as 24-hour access to highly trained medical and care staff.
