The seaside came to The Priory Bupa Care Home in Solihull last week as staff hosted a fun-filled beach party in the sunshine for all residents to enjoy.
Taking advantage of the sunny spells and beautiful gardens at The Priory Care Home, residents were given their own Staycation experience, with the chance to feel sand and water in between their hands and toes once again.
Residents took a trip down memory lane as they reminisced about their most memorable seaside family holidays while they played games and enjoyed ice-creams, as well as some beach themed cupcakes made especially by a member of staff.
Speaking of the day’s activities, Jean Green, resident at The Priory Bupa Care Home said: “We had such a wonderful day. It was so nice to feel my feet in sand again and it’s not a proper trip to the beach unless you enjoy an ice-cream! It was delicious.”
Mollie McDonald, another resident, commented: “I’ve always loved the beach but haven’t been to one in many years, so it was such a treat to have the beach brought to us. The day had such a nostalgic feel which I thoroughly enjoyed.”
Sara King, Home Manager, noted that the day was a great way for staff at The Priory Bupa Care Home to lift the spirits of residents who are currently shielding. She concluded: “The day was a great success! It was fantastic to see our residents reminiscing and enjoying the sensory and traditional pleasures of a visit to the seaside.
“We think it’s very important to bring different experiences to our residents, particularly during these unprecedented times when our residents are unable to see their family and friends from outside the home. The team have continually come up with new and imaginative things for everyone to get involved in, which our residents have really enjoyed.”
