Welcome to The Hyde in Walditch

Our home is set in 12 acres of grounds and landscaped gardens, boasting a water feature, raised flowerbeds summer house and croquet lawn. The stunning main building retains many of its original features. Residents can relax in the elegantly furnished Adam Room, or enjoy lunch in the dining room with its ornate wood panelling.

We take time to get to know each resident, tailoring the care we provide to suit each person. Our dedicated care team is immensely proud of the facilities available to residents, and work hard to ensure they retain as much independence as possible.

Life at The Hyde Care Home

We have a varied and inclusive activity programme that takes into account residents different tastes and levels of ability. 

Our activities

Residents might already have a few hobbies and pastimes and we encourage them to keep them up once they move in. We can help also them rediscover an old pursuit that they might not have had time for. If they feel like trying something new there's lots on offer – our group activities are great for meeting new people.

Our daily activities include gardening, painting, bridge and croquet. Further afield there are trips to West Bay, Abbotsbury Swannery, Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens and Hardy's Monument. Friends and family are also welcome to come along and join in the fun.

Our food

Mealtimes are an important part of life at The Hyde. Our chef uses fresh produce from our Victorian kitchen garden when preparing delicious, well-balanced dishes that our residents can enjoy together in the traditional dining room or in their own bedroom if they wish.

How do I arrange a visit?

We have an open door policy, so you are welcome to pop in to the home at any time. However, we recommend you avoid visiting at main meal times as these can be very busy. If you would like to speak to the home manager when you visit, you can make an appointment by calling us first. Download our guide to choosing a care home

Can I bring my own furniture?

Depending on its size, new residents are welcome to bring furniture to their new room. Many of our residents bring a favourite armchair or pictures and other small belongings to personalise their room.

How soon can I move in?

This depends on availability of rooms in the home, understanding the cost of care and the person moving in receiving a care assessment.

Our rooms

All 25 of our bedrooms are classically decorated with beautiful views of the gardens and most have en-suite facilities. The rooms are cleaned every day and there are smoke detectors and a 24-hour call system for added peace of mind.

We want our residents to feel as at home as possible, and encourage them to personalise their rooms with their most treasured ornaments, pictures and small items of furniture.
