Martin is currently clinical director at Aberdeen Dental Hospital. He has been involved in implant training and education for specialists and consultants in Aberdeen since his appointment as a consultant in restorative dentistry in 1996. Since this time, he has also managed a private dental practice in Aberdeen, accepting referrals in all aspects of restorative dentistry, including periodontology, endodontics; fixed and removable prosthodontics, tooth wear and cosmetic dentistry.

Shahab works as a specialty dentist in restorative dentistry at the Aberdeen Dental Hospital & Institute of Dentistry. He worked as a senior house officer from 2004 to 2007 and has been a specialty dentist in the department since 2007.

Following completion of his Bachelor in Dental Surgery from India in 2001, he pursued an MSc in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Newcastle. During his MSc, he performed research on an endodontic related topic, which was published in an international peer reviewed journal. He also went on to do his membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS RCS Ed) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007.

Shahab provides comprehensive specialist level care for patients in fixed and removable prosthodontics, periodontics, Endodontics and Implantology. He also provides a specialist endodontic service at the hospital which includes treatments such as re-root canal treatments, post removal, perforation repair, negotiating sclerosed canals, apexification procedures and root end surgeries.

His interests are broadly related to endodontics, prosthodontics and implantology. Within prosthodontics, his interest is full mouth rehabiliation including restoring severe tooth wear/tooth surface loss cases and complex denture cases including overdentures. He is also experienced in both Straumann and Nobel Biocare implant systems.

He is a member of the British Society of Prosthodontics, British Society of Periodontology and International Team of Implantology (ITI).

Donald has worked at Bupa Dental Care Queens Cross since 2016 after having worked in private practice, in the North of Scotland, for several years.

He is interested in many aspects of dentistry, particularly restorative and periodontal dentistry. He regularly attends courses to maintain his continuing professional development and is qualified to provide intravenous sedation for anxious patients. Experienced in the treatment, he has been carrying out IV sedations for the last four years.

Donald has also completed and received a diploma in Oral Implantology and Rehabilitation from the University of Maimonides in Argentina. This has enabled him to carry out straight forward and complex implant placements, to do bone grafting, sinus elevations and soft tissue grafting. And provide treatment options that enable cosmetic and functional rehabilitation of the patient’s mouth.

He can also provide orthodontic treatment in the form of Smilelign and clear aligner therapy, for more invisible orthodontics, to patients.

No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.

We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.

Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.

Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
