Amir Savage graduated in 1992 from Edinburgh University. He completed training in Scotland and started his career as a general dental practitioner with the Royal Air Force.
After 12 years as a general dental practitioner, Amir undertook a full-time three-year specialist training programme at the Eastman Dental Institute in Lonon. He achieved the master’s in Clinical Dentistry in Periodonology, the European Foundation of Periodontology Certificate and the Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh during his study period.
Amir was then appointed as the clinical director of the Military School of Dental Training. He completed his military career in 2002, after overseas assignments to the Netherlands and Germany. Amir was also previously the principal of a five dentist private practice. Now, Amir works exclusively in private practice, as a specialist periodontist and as an implant dentist.
He is on the specialist list for periodontics and is accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology. He is a Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh examiner on the specialist membership in periodontics examination, a British Dental Association Good Practice Assessor and a research supervisor for the MSc in Primary Dental Practice at the University of Kent. He also holds additional management qualifications and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. His commitment to developing and training dental professionals has been recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh with their award of Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Trainers.
