Mike is our lead clinician here at Menai Bridge. Originally from Penygroes, Caernarfon, Mike graduated with merit from Cardiff Dental School in 2004, before completing his vocational training in Penrhyndeudraeth, Porthmadog.

Mike went on to work as a senior house office in the oral and maxillofacial surgery departments at all four of our local hospitals: Bangor, Glan Clwyd, Llandudno and Wrexham. This gave him valuable experience in dealing with facial trauma, skin cancers, difficult extractions, and assisting with the surgical and medical management of patients with head and neck cancer. During this time, he passed his examination to gain membership of the Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mike returned to work in general practice in 2007, working part-time under the mentorship of well-known local implantologist, Graham Roy. He went on to take over the director’s role for the International Team for Implantology Study Club for Anglesey and North Wales, where he lectures regularly to local dentists on implant treatment planning.

Mike has a certificate in endodontics (root canal treatment) from the University of Chester, and a diploma in restorative dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He gained his master’s degree in clinical restorative dentistry in 2013 from the University of Leeds, with his thesis based on periodontal (gum) disease. He is now a member of the British Periodontal Society. In 2014, Mike was awarded a fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (FFGDP) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mike is a faculty member of a specialist dental biomaterials company, supporting other dentists on their advanced bone grafting courses. He regularly lectures both locally and internationally, with his main lecture interests being around advanced restorative dentistry – including splitting treatment into more manageable phases and treatment planning sequencing.

Mike has placed hundreds of dental implants, and takes referrals for implantology, periodontics and restorative dentistry. He also provides sinus bone grafting and block bone grafting. He is an approved provider of both Invisalign (clear braces) and Six Month Smiles (fixed orthodontics).
