The Old Church Dental Practice

Nigel Hargreaves

GDC - 63676 MDentsci (Rest Dent) Leeds 2006 BDS University of Sheffield 1988 Dentist

With a focus in restorative dentistry, Nigel’s passion is for both smile and functional reconstructions, whether using veneers, crowns, natural teeth or integrating dental implants where teeth are missing.

Nigel’s career began when he qualified as a dentist from the University of Sheffield in 1988. He then started advanced restorative dentistry training in 1999 and completed his master’s in restorative dentistry in 2005 at the Leeds Dental Institute.

Nigel has worked in private prosthodontic practice since 1995 and has received advanced training in London, Austria, Italy, Portugal and the USA in the fields of implantology, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, by some of the world’s leading clinicians. After spending several years at a leading referral practice in Manchester, Nigel then built up his own practice in West Yorkshire, The Old Church Dental Practice, providing all aspects of dental implant treatments, both surgical and restorative, along with all other aspects of prosthetic, prosthodontic and cosmetic dental treatments.

Nigel regularly uses the immediate loading technique for completely restoring a full dental arch all in the same day with a fixed bridge on dental implants. He provides an on-site fabrication of a full arch bridge, removing teeth and placing dental implants, without any need for any form of denture to be worn as immediate function can be resumed.

Nigel also offers block bone grafting and sinus grafting techniques to both his own patients when insufficient underlying bone is present for the use of dental implants, and also to referrals from local dentists and implantologists.

In 2007 Nigel formed the North of England Dental Academy, which is a dental education and teaching establishment for dental practitioners. The one-year restorative dentistry courses, are based on practical skills using a tell-show-do style of teaching. Nigel has a firm belief that by understanding and learning effective evidence-based techniques and being able to put them into practise under close supervision, will bring about a significant improvement in clinical skills, but most of all an increase in confidence.

Nigel is a respected member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of Osseointegration, The Association of Dental Implantology, the International College of Prosthodontists, the British Society of Occlusal Studies and the British Dental Association.
