She embarked on her surgical training in maxillofacial surgery as a senior house officer at several hospitals in the southeast of England. In 2002, Una gained her membership from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Una has built a broad base of experience from providing dental treatment in both primary and secondary care. Whilst working in the Community Dental Services she developed a keen interest in paediatric dentistry. She was able to combine this interest and her enthusiasm for teaching when appointed as paediatric lead at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy. She has spent over ten years teaching undergraduate dentists, dental therapists and hygienists. Una is a speaker for Health Education England and lectures to dentists in her special interest and is a past chairperson for the Wessex branch of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry.
Una enjoys continuing her professional development and provides evidence-based treatments with a minimally invasive approach. In 2018, she pursued further postgraduate training and completed a master’s in paediatric dentistry with distinction from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute.
Una has an interest in paediatric dentistry and welcomes referrals for the management of dental caries, developmental anomalies and dental trauma in paediatric patients.
