Knee replacement

Your surgeon will usually only recommend that you have surgery if non-surgical treatments, such as physiotherapy and exercise, medicines or using physical aids like a walking stick no longer help to reduce your pain or improve your mobility. Knee replacement surgery can help solve your knee problems and may lessen the pain.

Knee replacement treatments with Bupa

Knee problems can affect your ability to go about your day to day life, as well as cause you a lot of pain and discomfort. We offer several knee replacement treatments, as well as a full aftercare service to help make your recovery as comfortable as possible.

During knee replacement surgery the surgeon will remove the sections of bone which are causing you problems, before fitting an artificial knee joint. A general anaesthetic will be used to ensure you don't feel any pain during the procedure.

Most people remain in hospital for up to five days after surgery where a physiotherapist will assist them with the early stages of recovery.

We also offer all of our knee replacement patients an aftercare package which includes a follow-up appointment with a consultant. You can also be re-admitted to hospital within 30 days of the surgery, should it be needed.
