About our heart health check
Our coronary health check can help detect heart issues at an early stage. It’s great if you’re worried about family history or a milestone birthday and want to know more about your heart.
A health adviser and a GP will look at the main factors contributing to heart disease. You’ll also get practical advice on how to make crucial changes, leading to a happier healthier life.
Depending on your results, the GP may also recommend a CT scan. This is already included in the appointment cost, but it may take place at another health centre on a different day. If you don’t get the CT scan, we’ll refund the price of it back.
What is a Coronary Calcium CT scan?
Our coronary CT scan is a non-invasive procedure that spots signs of heart disease fast, like calcium build-ups. You won’t need to stay in hospital and our scan gets high-quality images to help see identify any problems.
Some problems, like fatty plaques, don’t always cause obvious symptoms but they can lead to chest pain and heart attacks. So the earlier we can see these, the more we can do to reduce the risk of them happening in the future.
If you’re experiencing any immediate symptoms or concerns, it’s best to book a GP appointment.

Before your appointment
We’ll send you a questionnaire before your appointment for you to fill in. We’ll use it to understand your medical history and decide what tests will be most relevant.

Body composition tests
To help us build a better image of your overall health, we’ll work out your height, weight, BMI, body fat percentage and metabolic rate.
Blood tests
We’ll look into your cholesterol levels, as this can play a big part in heart issues developing. We’ll also look at your risk of diabetes which can cause problems if not controlled properly.
Heart screening tests
We’ll also carry out tests to look into your heart health. This includes a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram (ECG) and a cardiovascular risk score to see the risk of heart attacks or angina within the next 10 years.
What we’ll discuss with you
GP consultation
The doctor will look for symptoms of heart disease and check your medical history to see if the CT scan is suitable. If you don't have the scan you will be refunded the cost of that part of the assessment.
After your appointment
CT calcium score scan and follow-up call
If the doctor recommends a CT scan, you may need to go to another medical facility probably on another day but we’ll help sort that for you. You will get a follow-up call with a doctor from the centre you attended, usually the same doctor you saw initially, to discuss your results and organise an onward referral if you need one.

What happens after a Coronary Health Check?
After your appointment, we’ll send you a full report of your tests and with your permission, inform your GP of the results.
If you had a coronary CT scan, a doctor from the centre where you had your health check may contact to discuss the results. They’ll discuss what they mean and if necessary, any onward referrals can be arranged.
