Our health insurance cover goes further to support our members with ongoing support for mental health conditions. Increasingly, our members are looking for support with young people’s mental health and recent studies show that a third (32 per cent) of parents of children between the ages of four and 17 said their child had been affected by a mental health issue in the last year*.
Introducing Bupa Family Mental HealthLine
Our Family Mental HealthLine provides support to parents or anyone who is performing a parental role and is concerned about their child’s emotional wellbeing or mental health. This is available to all members on Bupa policies, even if they don’t have mental health cover or the child isn’t covered under their policy.
The Family Mental HealthLine provides:
Telephone support between 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday
A team of trained advisors and mental health nurses who will listen, provide advice, guidance and support
Signposting to Bupa and non-Bupa online content for additional support and guidance which include Young Minds, practical advisers e.g. navigating NHS pathways
Nurses may facilitate referrals to a therapist or consultant who specialise in the mental heath of children and young people (for those members who’s child is covered on their policy and have a GP referral)
Nurse case management – a mental health nurse working in collaboration with GPs to help the member with all aspects of their child’s mental health wellbeing
This service is available now and more details can be found below.
