Bupa Dental Care Acquires Metrodental

22 December 2017

Bupa has announced the acquisition of Metrodental, adding two premium practices in the City of London to the Bupa Dental Care business.

The purchase follows a period of steady growth for Bupa Dental Care including the recent completion of Avsan Holdings Limited. Bupa Dental Care currently has over 460 dental practices across the UK, with 15 locations in London.

Located on St Mary Axe and Cannon Street in London, the practices have a combined team of around 40 people and will offer a range of general, specialist and cosmetic dentistry, as well as emergency treatment and oral surgery.

David Hynam, Bupa UK CEO said: “These practices are well placed to further strengthen our presence in central London and build our customer base in the area.

I’d like to welcome the Metrodental team to Bupa. We look forward to continuing to deliver our shared commitment to provide high quality convenient care.”

David Clapp, founder of Metrodental added: “It has given me enormous satisfaction and a sense of pride to see the growth of Metrodental over the past 12 years. Our dedicated staff have created practices that set a benchmark for excellence in clinical treatment and patient care. I know that our patients will continue to receive excellent care and will further benefit from the security of the trusted Bupa brand”.

In February, Bupa completed its acquisition of Oasis Dental Care, the UK's leading private dental provider with 380 practices. Since then, and in addition to Metrodental and Avsan, Bupa Dental Care has also acquired 26 practices in Wales, South East England and the Midlands.

Notes to editor

Metrodental has been named both the ‘Best Dental Team in London’ and ‘Best New Dental Practice in London’ at the National Dentistry Awards.
