It’s a startling reality that on average, men die six years earlier than women. To help encourage men to take action and look after their health, this year we proudly supported the Movember UK Foundation
. Along with Bupa UK’s match funding, and the efforts of the Bupa team’s fundraising efforts, we are currently number 9 of the Movember 100 club of top corporate fundraisers. I’m hugely proud of all our team – thank you so much.
Throughout November, our colleagues up and down the country rallied together to raise funds for this great cause. Their inspiring efforts ranged from hosting Movember themed raffles, quizzes and bake sales alongst other fundraising ideas. I’m really pleased that Movember isn’t limited to just the moustache growers amongst us –there are so many other ways to be involved. One of our Bupa UK colleagues in London, Elisa, created a ‘Move-mber’ challenge to walk to work every day, clocking up nearly 240km and raising almost £1,000.
Another colleague, Jon, who is a prostate cancer survivor, shared his open and honest story about his cancer journey, urging men to talk to a doctor when they notice something isn’t quite right. You can watch his story here
Thank you to everyone in Bupa UK that has been involved, whether you took part or helped a colleague to raise money. As Movember draws to a close, let’s keep the momentum going and take action throughout the whole year. For an A-Z of health information visit www.bupa.co.uk/health-information
