D is for Dinner

Earlier this year I found myself with excruciating toothache and I needed some emergency dental treatment.

At the start, the pain was intermittent, which made it relatively bearable to deal with. However, that also made it difficult for the dentist to locate and identify what was causing it.

My usual dentist initially thought the pain was being caused by a sinus problem, but the next day the pain was back, worse than ever and now it was constant. It was so unbearable that I booked an emergency appointment at one of the Bupa dental centres close to my work, in London.

There was only a 15-minute appointment available, and while I knew I was going to need longer, I took the appointment in the hope it would help anyway.

As soon as I got to the treatment room, the dentist I saw, Anna Papageorgiou took one look at my x-ray and said instantly ‘you need a root canal.’ She could see the pain I was in and was able to provide the treatment I needed that day. She was empathetic and had so much patience.

I came out of the appointment like a new person. I was pain free and it was the best I had felt in days. I was unbelievably grateful to Anna for her professionalism and ability to treat me with such compassion.

I managed to make the birthday dinner I had planned with friends and I enjoyed every single bite without the grimace of pain!
