Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
What is an employee assistance programme (EAP)?
An employee assistance programme (EAP) is a safe place for your team to talk about both work and personal issues.
It's free and confidential, with 24-hour access to online, phone and face-to-face support from qualified experts. They can help your people work through issues related to:
- health and lifestyle
- family, marriage and children
- stress, anxiety, and low mood
- bullying, harassment and domestic violence
- debt, money management and legal rights
- bereavement
Our experts listen without judgment, and focus on finding a way forward.

What’s included in an EAP with Bupa?
We help you empower your people to take control of their mental health.
24-hour emotional support by phone
Your people can get the help they need, right when they need it.
Confidential counselling
Whether it’s work or personal, employees can talk about their problems freely in a safe setting. We don't judge or criticise.
Access to further treatment
Sometimes, your people might need more support. Following a free mental health assessment, we can refer employees for specialist treatment if required†.
Self-help resources
Employees and their families can access free online information and support‡. They’ll get tools and techniques to better manage their mental health.
Why get an EAP?
Everyone faces challenges at work or home from time to time. With an EAP, your team can tackle issues when they happen – not leave them to get worse.
Reduce absence
Prioritise your people's mental health and they spend less time unwell.
Improve productivity
When your people are happy and healthy, they do their best work.
Identify key health risks
Proactively address patterns in behaviour with insightful reporting.

† Following the assessment if an alternative evidenced based treatment is required that is not covered under the policy, we provide relevant information and guidance. For example, signposting to a GP or referral to Bupa Health Insurance. Alternatively, Bupa can organise for specialist referrals, including face-to-face cognitive behavioural therapy and Clinical Psychology if funded by the employer.
‡ Information only services. Legal and financial specialist helplines will only provide factual information and signposting to help you make an informed decision and cannot provide regulated advice which would need to be sourced separately.
