Dorset care home celebrates Outstanding CQC status with party

13 February 2024

The Links Bupa Care Home in Broadstone has thrown a party for colleagues and residents after being rated 'Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its latest inspection.

To recognise the ongoing efforts from her colleagues, Denise Arthur-Briskham, Home Manager at The Links, arranged party games, cocktails, canapés, and decorated the lounge for everyone to let their hair down and reflect on their hard work. Carers, kitchen staff, residents, and even some family members all came together to revel in the achievement.

The CQC report, published in November, not only reaffirms The Links' commitment to excellence but also highlights the home's outstanding person-centred care. Carers at The Links were praised for their exceptional efforts in working closely with residents and their families to provide innovative approaches to outstanding person-centred care. The care reflects everyone’s unique history, culture, and diversity, displaying the commitment to tailoring services to meet the specific needs of each resident.

Elizabeth Oliver, the daughter of a residents at The Links, said: “Carers at The Links are continuously engaged showing that they really care about the people they look after. Various activities they organise are always inclusive and stimulating, I trust that my mum is in good hands.”

One of the standout features of The Links' care was its support for individuals during end-of-life care. Staff ensure that residents and their families feel cared for, and every effort is made to fulfil a person's last wishes, reflecting the home's dedication to providing high-quality care across all stages of life.

The report highlighted The Links' commitment to empowering residents to have maximum choice and control over their lives. Carers supported residents in the least restrictive way possible, with policies and systems in place to uphold this practice. This person-centred approach extended to all aspects of care, creating an environment where residents' preferences and wellbeing were paramount.

Denise Arthur-Briskham, Home Manager at The Links Bupa Care Home, said: "We believe in providing care that goes beyond the ordinary, tailoring our services to each resident's unique needs. It makes me very proud of the dedication our team bring to their roles every day, which is reflected by the Outstanding rating from the CQC. This is why we decided to throw a fabulous, well-earned party, to reward their hard work.”

The CQC report also commended The Links for its exceptional leadership, with a focus on colleague wellbeing that contributed to the positive energy of the team. The emphasis on engaging people, families, and the team in inclusive events reflected the diversity of both residents and staff.
